A Solo Journey of Sausages, Sights, and Serenity:

I said goodbye to my friends after spending time more time with them in the cozy town of Bempflingen, and with excitement and anticipation in the air, it was time for my first true international solo adventure. With my trusty backpack in tow, I embarked on a journey northward to the vibrant city of Frankfurt. Known for its rich history, stunning architecture, and its contribution to the culinary world with sausage links, Frankfurt beckoned me to uncover its treasures.

My explorations began with a leisurely stroll through the city’s charming streets. The paths led me on an adventure filled with hidden gems, bustling marketplaces, and centuries-old landmarks. With each step, I couldn’t help but immerse myself in the vibrant energy that pulsed through the city’s veins.

One of the highlights of my Frankfurt escapade was ascending to the top of the tallest building in the city. As I reached the observation deck, a breathtaking panorama unfolded before my eyes. The sprawling cityscape stretched as far as the eye could see, dotted with a fusion of modern skyscrapers and historic structures. It was a moment of serenity amidst the urban hustle, allowing me to appreciate the beauty and grandeur of Frankfurt.

Eager to experience the essence of Frankfurt, I embarked on a memorable cruise down the majestic River Main. Drifting along the gentle currents, I marveled at the picturesque scenery that unfolded around me. Lush greenery embraced the riverbanks, while elegant bridges connected the city’s vibrant districts. It was a serene journey that provided a unique perspective on Frankfurt’s beauty and charm.

Of course, no visit to Frankfurt would be complete without indulging in its world-famous sausages. I allowed my taste buds to savor the delicious local specialties that have become synonymous with the city. From the classic bratwurst to the tantalizing currywurst, each bite offered a tantalizing explosion of flavors, a testament to Frankfurt’s gastronomic prowess.

During my time in Frankfurt, I made the decision to purchase a Eurail Pass.  This pass, only available to people who live outside of Europe, allows for the pre-purchase of train travel with a myriad of different options, from one day in one country, to five days in a set number of countries, all the way up to three consecutive months to travel by train in all European countries.  I opted for this option, granting me the ability to travel on as many trains as I like for three months straight – perfect for a fast-paced, flexible trip. This option also granted me first class seating aboard every train, and allowed for a 50% discount on multiple cruise lines.  I was now ready to explore all of Europe!

As my time in Frankfurt drew to a close, I reflected on the incredible experiences I had collected along the way. The city had welcomed me with open arms, revealing its many facets and captivating my senses. From the enchanting streets to the breathtaking views, Frankfurt had proven to be a destination that effortlessly blends tradition and modernity.

With fond memories etched in my heart, I bid farewell to the city that had embraced me during my solo sojourn. Frankfurt had given me the confidence to embrace the world on my own terms, encouraging me to embark on future adventures with an open mind and a thirst for discovery.
